Winter 2024-2025 Artist in Residency: Shannen Fusco

" Life moves so quickly, and I don’t want to forget the little things—the funny things the kids say, our park adventures, and my reflections on motherhood. " - Shannen Fusco

Tell us your story in your own words
"Photography has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. I started with disposable cameras, then graduated to the early 2000’s point and shoot, capturing moments that felt real and exciting to me. I can still remember the feeling of receiving my first DSLR, a gift from my mom’s best friend— it felt like my world was opening up. I’m a storyteller at heart, whether through photos, words, or sketches. As I grew, photography became my way of connecting with the world and new people around me. I’m so grateful I get to do what I love every day."
What inspires you?
" I’m inspired by light, shadows and genuine human connection. Motherhood, in particular, speaks to me— it has an undeniable magic that I can’t help but be drawn to."

How do you spend your Sunday?
" Sundays are family days, always. I start the morning with a latte and a movie on the couch with the big kids while the littles are still sleeping—it’s one of my favorite quiet moments of the week. Then it’s usually a blur of painting, coloring, and crafting around the dining room table. If the weather’s nice, we’ll go for a walk around the neighborhood or spend time with my mom. Sundays are slow, simple, and full of love—exactly how I like them."
What is your perfect Sunset?
" My perfect sunset would be spent in my favorite sweats and sweatshirt, a large pizza pie (extra cheese!), good drinks, good music & great people.
What are you most excited to archive?
" I’ve made it a goal to set aside time each month to archive the moments that matter most. Life moves so quickly, and I don’t want to forget the little things—the funny things the kids say, our park adventures, and my reflections on motherhood. I love that my children will have the archive to look back on and see this era of us. It’s my way of holding onto the magic, one memory at a time, with lots of photos of course."
Tell us about your winter bucket list.
"This winter, I’m really looking forward to a mix of relaxing and adventurous moments. I especially can’t wait for a walk after the first heavy snowfall. Sledding with the kids, building a giant snowman, and making a colorful paper chain that wraps around the house are definitely on my list. Ice skating, watching early sunsets, and having game nights are things I’m excited about too!"
